With Irish-trained runners heading the betting for five of the six opening day contests at next week's Cheltenham Festival, bookmaker Coral fears a hammering from punters on both sides of the Irish Sea.

The week begins with Dunguib as odds-on favourite for the Spinal Research Supreme Novices Hurdle, while Go Native is the 3-1 favourite for the Smurfit Kappa Champion Hurdle.

Elsewhere, Captain Cee Bee is 11-4 market leader for the Irish Independent Arkle Trophy, while Quevega and Garde Champetre head Coral's betting for repeat wins in the David Nicholson Mares  Hurdle and Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase respectively.

"Although St Patrick's Day is not until next Wednesday, Irish eyes, and plenty of others, will be smiling the day before if Dunguib gets favourite backers off to a winning start, while wins for several other highly-fancied raiders as well would cost the bookies dear," said Coral's David Stevens.

Coral offer 3-1 that there are eight Irish winners next week, and 4-1 that they go one better and notch nine.
