2011 Cheltenham Festival target for Champion Hurdle flop Go Native

- 31 Mar 2010

Go Native has been ruled out for the rest of the season after returning home "very sore" following his disappointing Champion Hurdle display.

The seven-year-old was sent off favourite for the hurdling crown at Cheltenham but never recovered after making a bad mistake at the second flight.

Trainer Noel Meade is unsure how long it will take his charge to regain full fitness, but hopes Go Native will be back at the Festival in 12 months' time.

"He came back from Cheltenham very, very sore," the trainer told At The Races.

"He stretched at the second hurdle and was lucky to stand up as he landed on one leg.

"He's certainly not going to run again this season and how long it will hold him up for, I don't know.

"From the time he made the mistake he was sore and was never travelling with them after that.

"It's very disappointing, but that's the way racing goes and hopefully we'll have another go next year.

"We already have winning form over the winner (Binocular) so if all goes well and we get him back into top form, that's the way he'll go."
