2010 Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Imperial Commander will return to action in the Betfair Chase in November.
Nigel Twiston-Davies’ superstar triumphed in the Gold Cup two years ago when he beat Denman by seven lengths, however he has been off the track since he pulled up in the race in 2011.
Fans of the horse will be delighted to hear that he will be returning to action ahead of the new season and connections of the Grade One winner will be hoping that he returns in the same form.
Now eleven years of age, he’ll come back at Haydock in two months and Ian Robinson, part of the Our Friends In The North syndicate which owns the horse, explained: "Imperial Commander is making good progress to the extent that he will start to canter early next week.
"All being well the plan is to start off in the Betfair Chase at Haydock on November 24 - fingers and everything else crossed."
Imperial Commander has had great success in the Betfair Chase, beating Kauto Star by a nose to win at Haydock in 2009 before he beat Tidal Bay at odds-on in 2010.
