Hurricane Fly is the 4/1 favourite with totesport to win back-to-back Champion Hurdles after a narrow victory over the battling Peddlers Cross this afternoon.

The runner-up is an 8/1 shot to avenge his defeat in 2012 whilst last year’s Champion Hurdler Binocular is sandwiched between the pair on 5/1.

“The sight of Hurricane Fly and Peddlers Cross going toe-to-toe up the Cheltenham hill is a spectacle not many will forget in a hurry and it will have to take a special performance from Binocular next year to wrestle his crown back from Willie Mullins’ gelding,” said totesport spokesman George Primarolo.

Al Ferof was given a quote of 14/1 by totesport for next year’s Champion Hurdle after staying on well up the hill to take the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle earlier on the card.

Ruby Walsh is the red-hot favourite at 1/4 with totesport to take the top jockey crown after Quevega’s effortless win in the David Nicholson Mares’ Hurdle capped off a scintillating treble for the Irishman. Barry Geraghty is next in the market at 8/1 with Robert Thornton a 10/1 shot.

Looking ahead to later in the week, Wishfull Thinking was cut to 3/1 favourite (from 7/2) by totesport for the Jewson Novices’ Chase following stablemate Captain Chris’ victory in the Arkle. The Arkle winner is a 10/1 shot for next year’s Champion Chase.
