Tom Cooper has scratched Forpadydeplasterer from the Cheltenham Festival but revealed the superstar could still be in action this season.

The Irish raider had entries in the Ryanair, Queen Mother Champion Chase and Gold Cup at next month’s Festival, but Cooper has removed him from proceedings after his stable star returned from the King George at Kempton a sick horse.

Forpadydeplasterer was successful in the Arkle in 2009 and finished second behind Big Zeb in the 2010 Queen Mother Champion Chase, but he was last seen pulling up behind Long Run in January and Cooper explained:  "He came back from Kempton a very sick horse and I think making the two trips to Kempton, first in December and then when the race was rearranged, put paid to him.

"I thought last week we were looking good for Cheltenham but I'd rather not take him over again so soon.

"I'll keep him over here for the rest of this season and hopefully he'll be ready to run at Punchestown."
