Go Native looks set to head straight for the 2010 Smurfit Kappa Champion Hurdle after landing the second leg of the WBX.com Triple Crown.

Noel Meade's charge just managed to hold off the late burst of Starluck by a short head and in doing so, added Kempton's Christmas Hurdle to his success in the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle a month earlier.

As a result of the victory Go Native will now earn a £1million bonus from the firm if he can land the treble at Cheltenham in March.

"He is due to arrive back home this afternoon and he is almost certain to go straight to Cheltenham," said Meade.

"I will give him a month off and train him for the Champion Hurdle. That looks the right thing to do.

"It is great to be able to go to the Champion Hurdle with a fighting chance, and I wouldn't mind if he was as good as Harchibald!

"People criticised him for tying up yesterday but Davy (Condon) said the ground was too tacky for him. Livelier ground, which we should get at Cheltenham, will see him in a better light."
