Grand Crus could line up in a fascinating renewal of the 2011 Betfair Chase at Haydock on Saturday.

Trainer David Pipe is not ruling out running the six-year-old grey in the Grade One showpiece and he could clash with Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Long Run and Paul Nicholls’ legendary chaser Kauto Star.

Grand Crus is one of the highest rated hurdlers to go over fences and he was slashed in the Betfair Chase betting on Sunday.  After immediately being installed at 25/1 for the race, he was soon as short as 8/1 and a decision on whether or not he will run at Haydock will be made on Monday morning.

"He's come out of the race well and it was a great start for him over fences," explained Pipe.

"Whether we confirm him for the Betfair will not be decided until tomorrow morning - I'll speak to the owners.

"There are plenty of options for him.

"I'm not saying yes and I'm not saying no. I have not had a chance to speak to Tom Scudamore or to the owners but I will be doing so in the morning. We will see."
