Champion Hurdle hero Hurricane Fly will finish his sensational season at this year’s Punchestown Festival.

The seven-year-old topped of a fantastic campaign over hurdlers with a scintillating display in the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival earlier this month and he could be given to end his injury-free season on a high.

This year’s meeting at Prestbury Park was Hurricane Fly’s first appearance in England and the fragile French import blew his rivals away with a tremendous performance at Prestbury Park.

The son of Montjeu will now be aimed at back-to-back success in the Rabobank Champion Hurdle on May 6 and trainer Willie Mullins explained: "He's fine and he's been riding out since he came home.

"He seems in great order and I think it's all systems go for Punchestown.

"We've learnt a lot about him and the key to him has been Paul Townend keeping him quiet at home - Paul knows him inside out and doesn't let him do too much.

"I hope there might be more improvement in him. He would have learned an awful lot the other day going in a race like that, rather than running in small field races in Ireland on slower ground."
