The highly regarded French raider Long Run is preparing for his first run on British soil after trainer Nicky Henderson identified the williamhill.com Feltham Novices' Chase at Kempton as the star’s first port of call on Boxing Day.

The four-year-old took the French chasing division by storm, landing multiple Grade Ones at Auteuil before he joined Henderson.  Now the trainer has admitted to Cheltenhampro that he hopes he can adapt to British fences with the 2010 Cheltenham Festival in mind.

"Long Run appears to have speed but he stays three miles - or he did in France anyway," Henderson explained.

"Whether he wants all of three miles round somewhere like Cheltenham is a different matter and it's slightly the same as with Punchestowns.

"I know he was running in those staying hurdles last year, but I don't think he desperately needs three miles and two and a half is perfect for him.

"You could see one of them switching to the Ryanair Chase. You never know and we just want to find out a little bit more about them, especially Long Run.

"He's been going round Auteuil and they are big fences, but they (French horses) have different techniques and it is important that he adjusts here.

"It is important that he keeps his height up as they do tend to try to go through the top of fences rather than over the top of them.

"It's very important to get that sort of experience into him and it's probably better for him to come to Kempton than Cheltenham."
