Jockey Noel Fehily is set to have an operation on his injured wrist this Wednesday after the unfortunate jockey aggravated an old injury last week.
The rider will miss the ride on Kauto Star as the superstar chaser looks to make it five consecutive King George VI Chase victories at Kempton on January 15th, but Fehily is aiming to be back for the Cheltenham Festival.
He explained: "I'm having an operation on Wednesday morning.
"The ligament is ruptured and it needs to be wired, as far as I've been told, and I just need to give it time to heal. It will be six to eight weeks I'd imagine.
"They haven't told me when I can expect to be back riding. I'll have a better idea on Wednesday, but I'd imagine it will be six to eight weeks minimum. It would be nice to think I'd be back for Cheltenham."
Fehily has been riding the likes of Master Minded and Silviniaco Conti in the absence of Paul Nicholls’ stable jockey Ruby Walsh.
