Qaspal is 3/1 favourite from 6s for the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle with Sky Bet after landing a massive gamble for Philip Hobbs in the Paddy Power Imperial Cup.
Sky Bet are offering new customers a free £25 bet on the 2010 Cheltenham Festival - sign up with the firm here and use the bonus code MAXIMUMBONUS.
The six-year-old could now chase a £75,000 bonus pot from the sponsors if following up in either of his chosen entries at the Cheltenham Festival next week.
Although Qaspal is also entered in the County Hurdle - promoted to 5/1 favouritism from 12s by Sky Bet – he looks more likely to get in his other chosen engagement at the Festival.
However, a 5lb penalty for completing stage one of the valuable double bid at Sandown will leave connections sweating on making the cut off a revised mark of 129.
Matt Doyle of Sky Bet said: ‘Whether or not he gets in at Cheltenham, today’s result was a terrible one for us. Punters took the hint with McCoy getting down to his minimum and it was the last thing we needed before the Festival.’
If making the cut for the Hobbs team, the JP McManus-owned winner will bid to emulate near neighbours Martin and David Pipe, who landed the bonus with Olympian (93), Blowing Wind (98) and Gaspara in 2007.
Meanwhile, with 12 left in the Gold Cup at the six-day stage Denman is on the drift out to 4/1 from 7/2, while Kauto Star has hardened a shade into 8/13 from 4/6.
Sky Bet make the Tank 2/1 to win the ‘The Decider’ in a straight match bet with 4/11 Kauto Star and the firm also offers betting without Kauto Star among a host of Gold Cup specials.
Among the other Festival moves, last year’s David Nicholson Mares’ Hurdle winner Quevega (7/4 from 5/4) is friendless with Sky Bet and has been joined at the head of the Market by Voler La Vedette (7/4 from 5/2), while J Y Vole is 13/2 from 10s.
