Quito De La Roque will head to the Cheltenham Festival next month as trainer Colm Murphy looks to end the season on a high with his stable star.
The talented seven-year-old gave 5lbs and a beating to four rivals in the Grade Two Ten Up Novice Chase at Navan on Sunday and it was the gelding’s third victory in four starts.
Davy Russell was at his very best aboard the progressive chaser, holding him up and delivering him to win a shade cosily and he will now head to next month’s Festival with either the RSA Chase or the National Hunt Chase on his agenda.
Colm Murphy's father, Pat, explained: "Quito De La Roque enjoyed it out there and heavy going is what he loves. He is getting stronger and maybe we'll take on a bit of good ground at some stage with him.
"Hopefully he'll get his right conditions to win another big race or two before the season finishes though. I think he'll be going to Cheltenham for either the RSA Chase or the four-miler."
