It looks highly likely that legendary jockey Ruby Walsh will be back in the saddle before the 2011 Cheltenham Festival.
Ted Walsh has revealed that his son is successfully recuperating from a double fracture of his right leg and although it had been feared he might not be fit for the Festival, the jockey has made plenty of headway since he sustained the injury on November 6th.
Walsh came to grief on Corrick Bridge at Down Royal over three months ago but his father explained: "He's in good shape. He gets the cage off his leg on Thursday and then a couple of weeks later, if everything is OK, he'll be back racing.
"He's kept himself very fit. He's had a holiday, he has his own place, there's life after riding and he has to worry about that too.
"Worse things happen in the world and what he has is just a minor problem compared to some people."
