Henry de Bromhead has opted to swerve the Irish Arkle at Leopardstown on Sunday and the trainer is hoping it will prove to be the right decision come Cheltenham this March.

Unbeaten in four starts over fences, the eight-year-old had been a short priced favourite to win the Grade 1 showpiece on Sunday.  However, the trainer is set to remove him from the field and de Bromhead explained: "He'll be taken out of the Irish Arkle and the plan is now for him to go straight to Cheltenham.

"He's in great form and hopefully he'll go to Cheltenham a fresh horse and will be able to do well in the second half of the season.

"After Cheltenham we'd like to be able to go to Punchestown as well."

While the Arkle Trophy would appear to be his first choice at the Festival, Sizing Europe also holds an entry in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham and the trainer is not rushing to confirm any plans for his superstar.

"We've entered him in the Queen Mother just to keep our options open but there certainly won't be any rush to decide which way we'll go," added the trainer.
