Smart dual bumper winner Bellvano is the big mover in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle market with Sky Bet into 16/1 from 25s despite never jumping a hurdle in public.
The German-bred gelding, who is owned by J P McManus, has been the subject of informed support since reportedly pleasing Tony McCoy in schooling sessions at Seven Barrows.
He holds a host of entries on a massive weekend for Nicky Henderson, whose ante-post Champion Hurdle favourite Binocular is set to reappear in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle on Saturday.
Matt Doyle of Sky Bet explained to Cheltenhampro: ‘Bellvano is a smart recruit from the bumper ranks like Dunguib and only missed a clash with the Festival Bumper winner last year because his trainer is not a fan of the race.’
Bellvano was amateur ridden to both bumper wins last season at Musselburgh and Newbury, but lost his unbeaten record in controversial circumstances under JP Magnier when left at the start at Kempton on his second start.
