There were extraordinary scenes on Betfair on Sunday morning as reigning Champion Hurdler Binocular was allowed to drift to a whopping 10.00 (9/1) before the betting for Tuesday’s race was suspended.
Nicky Henderson’s stable star has been favourite for Tuesday’s Champion Hurdle for some time and there will be plenty of punters left scratching their heads after the multiple Grade One winner took a walk in the market ahead of his trip to Prestbury Park.
Binocular’s followers will now been worrying that something is amiss with the French import and there must be some question marks surrounding his participation at his fourth consecutive Festival if the Betfair market is anything to go by.
The market was due to be suspended at 10am ahead of the final declarations for the race and horse racing fanatics will be hoping that his stunning drift in the betting does not tell the true story ahead of Tuesday’s mouth-watering clash with the likes of Hurricane Fly, Menorah and Peddlers Cross.
