Last season's Champion Hurdle winner Binocular was an impressive winner of the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton on Saturday...

Binocular, who was sent off favourite, was giving trainer Nicky Henderson a four-timer on the card after wins from Nadiya De La Vega, Chablais and Polyfast (Henderson made it five with Long Run in the King George), and was also the third leg of a Tony McCoy treble.

Binocular was always travelling strongly and put in an excellent round of jumping, going on to score by three and three quarter lengths from the front-running Overturn, with Starluck two and a quarter lengths further back in third.

Binocular now trades at 4.0 to defend his Champion Hurdle crown at the Cheltenham Festival, with last year's runner-up Khyber Kim, who could manage only fourth on his seasonal reappearance, out to 27.0.
