Philip Fenton believes that Dunguib will improve greatly after his seasonal reappearance at Gowran Park on Saturday afternoon.
The 2009 Weatherbys Champion Bumper winner made light work of a small field in the Red Mills Trial Hurdle and will now head to the Cheltenham Festival to take on the likes of Binocular and Hurricane Fly in the Champion Hurdle.
Fenton believes that the race should put him spot on for next month’s big race and he explained: "He's absolutely A1 and he'll freshen up for a couple of days. You couldn't complain with that. It was just what the doctor ordered.
"He was a under a cloud five weeks ago so I think it was quite a good performance. I have it in my head that he will come on leaps and bounds for the run. It has just sharpened him a bit and it was just what he wanted.
"The Champion is three weeks on Tuesday. He should be fine and he doesn't need a great deal of work anyhow. Saturday's race just fitted in perfect."
