Returning jockey Ruby Walsh doesn’t know whether he’ll be riding
Hurricane Fly in the Stan James Champion Hurdle.
The legendary rider has been on the sidelines for almost four months after he
suffered a serious injury at Down Royal last November and he will have watched
on as Paul Townend forged a successful partnership with Hurricane Fly.
Willie Mullins will be preparing the French recruit for his first trip to
Prestbury Park, but jockey arrangements are unclear with just nine days until the
meeting kicks off.
Ladbrokes are currently a top priced 11/2 on Hurricane Fly winning the race after a string of Grade One victories this season.
Ruby Walsh knows he will be riding in the the totesport Cheltenham Gold
Cup, Ladbrokes World Hurdle and sportingbet Queen Mother Champion Chase but is
unclear whether he will be in the saddle in the other Festival feature.
"I haven't talked to Willie about it - it's a decision for him and the
owners. I ride Quevega, Big Buck's, Kauto Star and Master Minded. After that I
haven't looked at the rest of them" he explained.
