Connections of 2010 Arkle Trophy hero Sizing Europe are hopeful that their superstar can bounce back to form in the sportingbet.com Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham on Wednesday.
Henry de Bromhead’s Grade One winner has been campaigned over longer distances for much of the season and while he managed to finish second to Kauto Star at Down Royal last year, his form hasn’t been as good as it was the season before.
De Bromhead has opted to drop Sizing Europe back to the minimum distance next week and the handler explained: "I hope that the return to two miles around Cheltenham will suit Sizing Europe. He started the season racing over further but he probably just had too much time to think about the fences and we think that he is a better horse when he is jumping at speed.
"You would imagine that if he reproduced the level of form that he showed at The Festival last year, then he would have a serious chance next week. He is in great form and we are happy with him at the moment."
