Tony McCoy has admitted he can’t wait to partner Starluck for the first time over fences as Alan Fleming’s superstar gets set to make his chasing debut on Thursday.

The classy hurdler will tackle the larger obstacles for the first time at Huntingdon and if all goes according to plan the talented grey could be on his way to the Cheltenham Festival to tackle the Arkle Trophy.

After being placed in hurdle races at the highest level, McCoy believes that he could be a force if he enjoys his new challenge and the jockey explained:  "It's nice to ride a horse like Starluck.  He's quite small, but he jumps well at home and hopefully he'll be pretty good.

"He was probably just a fraction short of Champion Hurdle class but hopefully he'll take to fences.  The more experience the better, but if they're good enough, it shouldn't stop them winning at Cheltenham."

Starluck is one of four runners looking to win the race and Cheltenham Festival ante post punters will be keen to see how Fleming’s stable star reacts to the task.
