The six-year-old Knockara Beau beat smart sorts in Wendel and Alfie Flits over two and a quarter miles on Saturday and Charlton believes Beau will be suited by an extra three furlongs in the 2009 Cheltenham Festival.
"He's absolutely fantastic. Everything's all right, he's eaten up and you wouldn't have thought he'd had a race," said the Northumberland trainer, who will be having his first runner at the Festival meeting.
"The trip will suit him a lot better, it was too short for him the other day, he gallops all day at that speed. He's used to going up our steep five-furlong gallop so he'll cope with the hill.
Knockara Beau can be backed at 50/1 for the Ballymore on Wednesday week with Boylesports.
Meanwhile the favourites for the Ballymore remain Diamond Harry at 7/2 with Bet365 and William Hill, and serious contender Karabak at 5/1 from Ladbrokes.
