Dessie Hughes is eyeing a trip to the Cheltenham Festival with Magnanimity after a successful season over fences.

The seven-year-old is in line for a tilt at the RSA Chase after winning two of his four starts over the bigger obstacles and Hughes believes that his stable star has done enough to warrant a place at the world’s greatest race meeting.

After beating Jessies Dream in the Killiney Chase at Leopardstown he went down by just a head to Bostons Angel in the Dr PJ Moriarty Chase and Hughes explained:  "He's a very nice horse - he's very solid.  He's come out of the race well and I'm inclined to go for the RSA with him.

"I don't think I'll have many runners at Cheltenham this year. We don't have any horses like Hardy Eustace anymore, unfortunately.

"We'll probably run Rare Bob. He's in a couple of the handicap chases."

Time For Rupert is the favourite for this year’s RSA Chase, but with the likes of Wymott, Jessies Dream and Aiteen Thirtythree all in contention for the race, it looks like it could be another enthralling renewal of the Grade One showpiece.
