Simonsig won for favourite backers in the Neptune at the 2012 Cheltenham Festival

Simonsig claimed a comfortable win in the 2012 Neptune at Cheltenham making trainer Nicky Henderson the most successful ever at the festival.

Simonsig had been taken on by the bookmakers on Wednesday morning but Barry Geraghty gave the Nicky Henderson trained horse confidently to victory in the Neptune Investment Management Hurdle, beating Felix Younger and Monksland.

The race had a horrible incident at the second last hurdle when Cotton Mill, who had made the running in the race, refused to jump and Denis O'Reagan was flung from the horse. Thankfully both were okay but that left Simonsig with a big lead and there was no mistakes from the impressive grey.
