Mikael D’Haguenet fluffed his lines on his eagerly anticipated return to action at Fairyhouse on Wednesday, handing the Grade One Bar One Racing Drinmore Novice Chase to Jessies Dream with a dramatic final fence tumble.

The former Cheltenham Festival winner was making his first appearance for the best part of two years but that didn’t stop him being sent off a warm favourite and he seemed to have landed the gamble with an impressive display of jumping.

However, when sent to tackle Jessies Dream at the head of affairs, Mikael D'Haguenet slipped and fell, handing the race to Gordon Elliott’s stable star.

Luckily Mikael D'Haguenet got straight back on to his feet and Elliott was lefty thrilled to have won the race.

"That's my first Grade One and it is great to do it with the owner's (David Johnson) first horse in training in Ireland,” he explained.

"He wants further and better ground and he might go to Kempton for the Feltham Novices' Chase at Christmas."
