Ruby Walsh returned to the racecourse to partner Mikael D’Haguenet in a pre-Cheltenham Festival workout at Leopardstown on Sunday.

It was one of the first times Walsh has been in the saddle since his crashing fall on Corrick Bridge at Down Royal in November and it was more proof that it looks likely the legendary jockey will be ready to ride at the Festival next month.

Mikael D’Haguenet is entered for the Arkle Trophy, RSA Chase and Ladbrokes World Hurdle and while it was nice to see him complete a decent round of jumping at the weekend, it was stablemate Quel Espirit that really caught the eye of punters.

Willie Mullins’ star was cut for the National Hunt Challenge and it seems that ante post players still believe Mikael D'Haguenet has plenty to prove over the larger obstacles.

In other news, Paul Nolan’s Westmeath was cut for the The Neptune and The Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle after winning the opener at Leopardstown on Sunday and Celestial Halo was trimmed for the Ladbrokes World Hurdle and the County Hurdle after his success at Fontwell.
