Davy Russell gave Sir Des Champs a confident ride in the 2012 Jewson Novices Chase and the horse was very impressive when winning the opener on day three at the Cheltenham Festival.
The 3/1 second favourite was always in control of the race and powered past race leader Champion Court up the Cheltenham hill to give the Irish a winner on the day that was dubbed St. Patrick's Thursday at Prestbury Park.
Peddler's Cross was the big disappointment of the race and never looked on the pace, finishing out of the places, which were filled by Champion Court and For Non Stop.
