Fifteen-time Champion Jockey Tony McCoy believes that Big Buck’s will still take all the beating in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle at next month’s Cheltenham Festival.
McCoy has been on board Paul Nicholls’ unbeaten hurdler in his last two starts in the absence of stable jockey Ruby Walsh and the superstar is looking better than ever.
While McCoy was impressed with Grands Crus' impressive win in the Cleeve Hurdle recently, McCoy can’t get away from the fact that Big Buck’s has never been off the bridle this year and he thinks David Pipe’s challenger could suffer for his free-running style.
"To me, if you look at the best stayers, they always race behind the bridle," said McCoy in The Independent.
"Horses like Baracouda and Inglis Drever never travelled through their races the way Grands Crus did in the Cleeve Hurdle.
"I could be wrong, but he'd have to be some horse to have enough in reserve to beat Big Buck's."
