Run over two miles five furlongs, the Ryanair Chase is for five year olds and above whom, have more often than not, sidestepped the Gold Cup in search of a less competitive prize.
Won by Imperial Commander in 2009 and by Our Vic in 2008, the winner of the race is always a classy horse and it should be no different this year with the Paul Nicholls-trainer Poquelin heading the betting.
With the likes of Joncol, Voy Por Ustedes and Barbers Shop all also in the hunt for Ryanair glory, it looks as if it could be one of the most competitive renewals in recent history.
Poquelin is the 4/1 market leader with Ladbrokes, closely followed by Tranquil Sea and Barbers Shop, 5/1 and 6/1 respectively.
