Ian Williams remains confident that stable star Weird Al could be fit for the 2011 Cheltenham Gold Cup.

The superstar kicked off the season with a dead-heat with subsequent Paddy Power Gold Cup hero Little Josh before being sent off a popular choice for the 2010 Hennessy Gold Cup.

He could only finish eighth in that race and was later found to be suffering from a form of paralysis of his larynx leading connections to give the horse a breathing operation.

Williams is glad to have him back on track but admits he is against rushing the eight-year-old back into action.

"Plans remain very fluid, it depends how he comes through the next week to 10 days," Williams explained.

"We hope to run him once before Cheltenham but if it's not in his best interests we won't.

"They're inactive for just less than a month after a breathing op but it's more about how they take it which determines how long they are off for really."
