Talented Grade One-winning chaser Weapon’s Amnesty is out of the 2011/12 National Hunt season, but connections of the horse remain hopeful that he will return to the track.
The 2010 RSA Chase hero has been ruled out for the season for the second year running and the Gold Cup contender will be looking to recover from a ligament injury before returning to action.
Eddie O'Leary, brother of Gigginstown House Stud owner Michael and racing manager explained: "Unfortunately he's out for the season but he's still a young horse and hopefully he'll be back for next year. We'll certainly try our best to get him back.”
The 2009 Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle winner was due back over the next few weeks, but the injury will come as a major blow to trainer Charles Byrnes’ and the eight-year-old will leave many ante post punters disappointed.
On Sunday Paddy Power Racing explained via Twitter: "Weapons Amnesty, not seen since winning the RSA 19 months ago, is announced this evening as being out for this season too. Injury recurrence."
Meanwhile Weapon’s Amntesy’s stablemate Solwhit remains on course for his switch to fences this season and Byrnes confirmed: “Solwhit will be out for a beginners' chase in about five weeks though."
