Diamond Harry could return to action before the end of 2011 according to owner Paul Duffy.
The Hennessy Gold Cup hero was ruled out of last month’s Cheltenham Gold Cup after he had damaged a suspensory ligament on his near-fore.
The eight-year-old was thought by many to be a leading candidate for the Festival feature and the Paul Duffy Diamond Partnership were bullish about the chances of Nick Williams’ stable star.
However, he was forced to miss the race and Duffy explained: "I think his lameness has almost gone, it will obviously take a while to recover but he's on course for next year.
"We've got a plan of campaign for the back end of the year so we're hopeful he'll recover fully and comes back to his old form."
With the likes of Long Run, Pandorama, What A Friend and Weapons Amnesty all remaining in training next season, it looks like there is a fresh wave of talent ready to dominate the chasing division as the likes of Kauto Star, Denman and Imperial Commander continue to age.
