Nigel Twiston-Davies has confirmed that Imperial Commander is in fine form ahead of Friday’s totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup.
The ten-year-old has spent most of the season on the sidelines and he has only been seen once when he landed the Betfair Chase at Haydock on his seasonal reappearance.
According to his trainer Imperial Commander has been working well on the gallops in recent weeks and he remains the favourite for the famous race but Twiston-Davies has admitted he is feeling the pressure ahead of the blue riband event.
The trainer explained: "It's going well. He did a really good bit of work yesterday and is having an easy day today.
"There is a lot more pressure this year but hopefully he'll be back where he belongs.
"If he'd finished third last year everyone would have been delighted. We knew he was really well and we know he's really well this time, so hopefully he can do it again."
Meanwhile, the trainer also had good news regarding Champion Hurdle contender Khyber Kim and he continued: "We're very happy with him. People forget he was only three lengths behind Binocular and he's in as good a form this year.”
