2010 Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Imperial Commander will have a racecourse gallop at Warwick tomorrow after the superstar was forced to miss his intended workout on Saturday.

Nigel Twiston-Davies’ gelding was set to work at Newbury before the meeting was abandoned after the tragic events in the parade ring before the opening race and the trainer was quick to make alternative plans for the ten-year-old.

Imperial Commander hasn’t been seen since his victory in the Betfair Chase and he was forced to miss the King George VI Chase at Kempton in January.

"He's going to Warwick tomorrow. He'll go about two miles round there with Paddy (Brennan) riding but won't jump any fences.  He'll be accompanied by some stablemates," Twiston-Davies explained.

Clerk of course at Warwick Andrew Morris admitted he would be more than happy to see the Gold Cup star at the course and he commented:  "Obviously he was meant to go to Newbury today (Sunday) and due to the unfortunate incidents there yesterday I was asked if he could come to Warwick and we are delighted to provide the venue for him.

"We had our meeting yesterday which went well and we are very pleased that we can provide the opportunity for the reigning Gold Cup winner to do his final preparation."
