Connections of Hennessy Gold Cup winner Kempes will not make a decision on the superstar’s participation at the Cheltenham Festival until next week.

Willie Mullins’ eight year old jumped his way into Cheltenham Gold Cup calculations at Leopardstown on Saturday and the Irish raider was slashed for success at the world’s greatest race meeting.

The eight-year-old has also been handed an entry for the Ryanair Chase but connections are in no rush to finalise plans for their Grade One winner.

"It was a great win and he's come out of the race very well.  We'll sit on it for about a week or so and then decide about Cheltenham,” said Frank Berry, racing manager to owner JP McManus.

"We'll sit on it for about a week or so and then decide about Cheltenham.

"He stayed the three miles and handled the ground quite well. It was very encouraging. We couldn't be more pleased with him."
