Foxrock fancied for National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham

Foxrock further enhanced his claims for National Hunt Chase success at next month's Cheltenham Festival when making it three wins from his last four starts in the Grade 2 Ten Up Novice Chase at Navan.

A mistake four out looked to have set the six-year-old back but he showed a willing spirit to regain the lead and then rallied again after another sloppy jump late on to bravely beat Mr Murphy by half-a-length.

The Ted Walsh-trained gelding had previously powered home to crush Sizing Gold by seven lengths at a similar level at Naas, having earlier got off the mark at Fairyhouse before finishing third to Carlingford Lough in the Grade 1 Topaz Novice Chase at Leopardstown over the Christmas period.

A £75,000 purchase for leading Irish owner Barry Connell, Foxrock has now prevailed four times under rules since landing a point-to-point back in October 2012 and clearly has all the right credentials for the four-mile marathon at Cheltenham.

Walsh said: "That's where Barry would like him to go. He did what I thought he might do, he always seems to pull out a little bit more just when it is needed. He was a bit slow over the last and the other two were quicker than him there, but he finds a bit extra when you give him a dig and won well enough at the line.

"Danny thought he had a little bit left in the tank, he's a grand horse and is obviously going in the right direction. As long as he stays sound and healthy there are more nice pots to be won with him in the future. He stays, he jumps and he handles soft ground. He's come a long way since he won a point-to-point."

Irish raiders have a good recent record in the National Hunt Chase, with Chicago Grey prevailing for Gordon Elliott in 2011 and Willie Mullins striking with Back In Focus last term.
