Race fans prepare for sensational Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham

The Supreme Novices Hurdle marks the opening of the 2014 Cheltenham Festival and Paddy Power are running an incredible money back special on the curtain-raiser.

The 2014 Cheltenham Festival begins at 1.30pm on Tuesday afternoon with the Supreme Novices Hurdle, where hot favourite Irving looks to claim an opening day win for trainer Paul Nicholls. The 5/2 favourite is unbeaten in four outings over hurdles and is considered to be the best novice in training, after a stunning victory in the Grade Two Dovecote Novices Hurdle at Kempton last month.

That victory saw Irving fly ahead of Vautour in the Supreme Novices betting and a big run is expected at Cheltenham. He will, however, have to fend off a large field and there are plenty of other dangers, such as Wicklow Brave and the JP McManus owned Gilgamboa. Vaniteux and Josses Hill are also considered to be threats and each of the leading contenders will have their backers.

It's great news then that Paddy Power are running an almost all-encompassing money back special on the Cheltenham Festival curtain-raiser. The firm are refunding all losing bets on the race if your horse fails to win but finishes either 2nd, 3rd or 4th. This means that your pick only needs to finish in the first four to ensure no loss in the opening race.

This is a fantastic insurance offer and it gives punters the chance to bet on the first race of the Cheltenham Festival with no fear, whether they are backing Irving to confirm his potential or one of the outsiders to spring a surprise.
