The Liquidator ready to redeem reputation at Cheltenham Festival

David Pipe is hoping to get The Liquidator back on track at the 2014 Cheltenham Festival following a disappointing run last time and also feels Dell' Arca and Dynaste can make an impression at Prestbury Park next month.

The Liquidator established a big reputation after following up a brave fourth in last season's Champion Bumper by prevailing in that sphere at the Punchestown Festival when staying on strongly.

All went well on his hurdling bow in a low-key contest at Carlisle and he took a step back up in class in his stride when scoring by 15 lengths in Grade 2 company at Cheltenham in mid-November.

The six-year-old fell apart when favourite for the Tolworth Hurdle at Kempton last month, eventually finishing a tired fifth of six in that contest, but Pipe has not given up home of his charge showing his true worth at the Festival.

"He's had a nice break since then and he seems in good form at home," said the trainer. "Obviously if we can get him back to his best form then in whatever race he turns up in he's likely to have a chance. He's in the Supreme and the Neptune and I've got to speak to Roger Brookhouse about whether we put him in the handicaps as well, but I would say the Supreme is the more likely one."

French import Dell' Arca was a gutsy winner of the Greatwood Hurdle at Cheltenham on his British debut and showed no ill effects from an unlucky tumble at Ascot when second to Splash Of Ginge in the valuable Betfair Hurdle at Newbury.

"He's a good horse, he's still lightly raced but has got a good attitude and jumps well," commented Pipe. "Although he's not over-big, Tom's excited about him going over fences in the future."

Dynaste looked all set for a good season when chasing home Cue Card in the Betfair Chase at Haydock in November but suffered a setback when tailed off behind Silviniaco Conti in the King George at Kempton and has since slipped off the radar somewhat.

However, he has a good record at Cheltenham, including finishing second to Benefficient in the Jewson Novices' Chase last term, and connections are keeping their fingers crossed that returning to Prestbury Park brings out the best in him.

"He's cantering away, he's in good form and we're trying to get him ready for either the Ryanair or the Gold Cup," said Pipe. "I've no preference at this stage but we'll see what the ground is closer to the time. We're happy with him at the moment. He's got lots more work to before then but so far he's on target."
