2013 Champion Bumper - The Liquidator “my best chance” says owner Roger Brookhouse

Leading owner Roger Brookhouse has been discussing his Cheltenham Festival team and rates The Liquidator as his best chance of a winner at the meeting.

The David Pipe-trained gelding finished runner-up in a Listed bumper at the track back in October and has since bolted up in a similar race at Exeter, winning eased down by 24 lengths, and is now in line for the Champion Bumper.

Brookhouse, when pressed on which of his runners next week represented his best chance of a winner, said:

"Maybe The Liquidator. He is a very smart little horse."

The owner also spoke of his previous winner of the Champion Bumper, Cheltenian, who made a winning return to action at Doncaster recently:

"Cheltenian had a racecourse gallop at Exeter [on Wednesday morning], which went very well, and we've decided to let him take his chance in the Supreme [Novices' Hurdle],” he said.

Also in Brookhouse's Festival team are Sadler's Risk, Goulanes and Chartreux, with running plans still up in the air for the latter two horses.

“Sadler's Risk will run in the Coral Cup. The two we haven't made final plans for are Goulanes and Chartreux. I think they all have a good squeak, but it is Cheltenham and we know how difficult it is to win there,” Brookhouse added.
