2013 Jewson Novices' Chase runners and full field

The Jewson Novices' Chase over 2m4f is the opening race on the Thursday of the Cheltenham Festival and has attracted 13 runners.

They are headed by the David Pipe-trained Dynaste who has been rerouted to this race from the RSA Chase, with connections clearly believing he has a better chance over this shorter trip.

The seven-year-old was almost top class over hurdles but flopped in last season's World Hurdle on ground that was faster than he likes, but he's not looked back since being sent chasing this season, winning all three of his starts.

He opened his account at the track in October and was most impressive last time in the Feltham Novices' Chase over Christmas, when routing his rivals by nine rivals, and on that form he sets the standard here. Bookmakers agree and make him universal favourite with 7/4 (bet365) the best price on offer.

Captain Conan (5/1 Stan James) was made favourite for this race after winning a Grade 1 chase at Sandown in December, following up his previous win in a Cheltenham novice, and proved he stays this distance when winning another Grade 1 when returned to Sandown last time, albeit in workmanlike fashion.

Aupcharlie (5/1 Coral) appears to be Ireland's leading chance of a winner, and he will be better suited to this trip, after being found out in two races over further. He looks a big player for last season's winning trainer Willie Mullins.

Module (9/1 Boylesports)  represents trainer Tom George and he must come into the argument, having won his last two chase starts, albeit against lesser rivals. He has won over hurdles at Cheltenham in the past, so there are no worries about him acting at the track.

Dynaste holds Third Intention (18/1 Coral) and Molotof (25/1 BetVictor) on Feltham Novices' form, while Irish raider Benefficient (18/1 Coral) seems to save his best for Leopardstown.

The field is made up by outsiders Texas Jack, Marito, Sire Collonges, Desert Cry and Changing Times.
