The Albert Bartlett always goes the way of a thorough stayer and At Fishers Cross (11/4, bet365) looks like he will relish Friday’s challenge.

The favourite beat runaway Neptune winner The New One in a Grade Two on trials day last time out and the form looks particularly strong given this week’s result.  The extra three furlongs and a strong pace here are certain to suit, but a slower surface would be ideal for the talented youngster and you’d be worried about his jumping on better ground.

Instead, Willie Mullins can add another Festival victory to his incredible CV with BALLYCASEY (9/2, BetVictor) who arrives at Prestbury Park unbeaten in three starts for his master handler.

All his victories have come in heavy conditions in slowly run races, but he has been thoroughly impressive on each occasion and it isn’t hard to see why his trainer thinks so much of him.  It could be that he is even more effective on decent ground and he looks a perfect candidate for the Albert Bartlett, with staying chasing surely going to be his game in coming years.

Nigel Twiston-Davies will be looking to end the week on a high with the exciting African Gold (13/2, Coral) while the Henderson yard rely on Utopie Des Bordes (10/1, BlueSquare).

Nick Wilby’s selection – Ballycasey (9/2, BetVictor)
