4.40 National Hunt Chase

Irish raiders have a good recent record in the National Hunt Chase, with Chicago Grey and Back In Focus obliging in the last three renewals of the longest race of the Cheltenham Festival.

Last season's contest was an emotional family affair with jockey Patrick Mullins riding the winner for his father Willie, who himself partnered Hazy Dawn and Macks Friendly to victory for his dad Paddy back in the 1980s.

Jonjo O'Neill is the most successful handler in the history of the race, though, striking five times with Front Line (1995), Rith Dubh (2002), Sudden Shock (2003), Native Emperor (2004) and Butler's Cabin (2007).

Leading owner JP McManus always loves to have a tilt at triumphing in a contest which features 24 fences, with his great friend JT McNamara having ridden Rith Dubh to victory in 2002 and Teaforthree two years ago, before being badly injured later on at that Festival.
