2:05 RSA Chase

The RSA Chase has been a breeding ground for future Gold Cup winners over the years, with the likes of Arkle, Ten Up, Garrison Savannah, Looks Like Trouble and Denman going on to land steeplechasing's Blue Riband event at subsequent Festivals.

Bobs Worth added his name to that illustrious list after taking this prize in 2012 and then the big one 12 months later, although there have been a few surprise scorers in recent seasons too.

Cheltenham is obviously always a tough place for novice chasers, and the quicker pace of Festival races and the stamina-sapping trip have all probably contributed to this statistic.

This year's contest looks a wide-open affair, with Ireland having plenty of strength in depth through Morning Assembly, Ballycasey, Carlingford Lough and Don Cossack, although Donald McCain will be keen to strike for the home contingent with Corrin Wood.

The RSA Chase (2:40pm) is a Class A Grade 1 event run over three miles and about half a furlong. It is open to novices aged five years old and upwards.
