1.30 JLT Novices' Chase

Irish raiders have come out on top in all three previous runnings of the JLT Novices' Chase, with Noble Prince, Sir Des Champs and Benefficient taking this relatively new trophy back to the Emerald Isle.

Run over 2m 4f, with 17 fences to jump, the race has been promoted to Grade 1 status this year, with clerk of the course Simon Claisse stating: “After three very successful years, it continues to attract the best novices over two and a half miles. We are delighted this contest has been upgraded to reflect the depth of strength in the race."

Speaking on behalf of the new sponsors, JLT chairman Jonathan Palmer-Brown declared: "This is a race for rising young stars and is a stepping stone for the champions of the future, which exemplifies our own success."

Officially registered as the Golden Miller, in honour of the five-time Gold Cup winner, it has again attracted a strong entry, including Nicky Henderson's Oscar Whisky, who can boast six course wins already and was third in the 2011 Champion Hurdle.
