1.30 Triumph Hurdle

The Triumph Hurdle is always one of the most competitive races at the Cheltenham Festival but Nicky Henderson has a fine record in this event and will be seeking a sixth winner this season.

First Bout (1985), Alone Success (1987), Katarino (1999), Zaynar (2009) and Soldatino (2010) have all been sent out to victory from Seven Barrows and Henderson will be hoping Royal Irish Hussar can bounce back from a disappointing run at Doncaster and recapture the sparkle of his earlier success against Guitar Pete.

The latter will be looking to give Dessie Hughes a second straight victory after already following in the footsteps of Our Conor by landing the Spring Juvenile Hurdle at Leopardstown.

French import Le Rocher is the apple of Nick Williams' eye after impressive strikes at Chepstow and Cheltenham since arriving in Britain, while Paul Nicholls has Calipto bidding to match the exploits of his past Triumph Hurdle heroes in Ceslestial Halo (2008) and Zarkandar (2011).

The Triumph Hurdle is a Class A Grade 1 hurdle run over two miles and a furlong. It is only open to four year old novices and 2007 victor Katchit was the first winner of this race since Kribensis in 1988 to go on to win the Champion Hurdle.
