5.15 Grand Annual Chase

Nicky Henderson will no doubt be keen to claim a third success in the race named after his late father as the 2014 Cheltenham Festival draws to a close with the Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase.

Johnny Henderson was a banker and racehorse owner who played a significant role in safeguarding the future of the Festival by helping to raise £240,000 to purchase Cheltenham racecourse when it was attracting the interest of property developers in the 1960s.

His name was added to the race's title in 2005, with son Nicky prevailing with Greenhope the following season and Bellvano two years ago in a contest run over 2m 110 yards and featuring 14 fences.

The Seven Barrows handler may have Paddy Power Gold Cup runner-up Colour Squadron in his team this term, while Ted Veale could look to follow up his 2013 County Hurdle success and give Ireland another win after the well-backed Alderwood obliged under Tony McCoy last season.
