4.40 Conditionals Hurdle

All eyes will again be on David Pipe in the penultimate race of the 2014 Cheltenham Festival as he bids to finally break his duck in the contest named after his father, with Home Run possibly looking his best chance of success in the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle.

Pond House stables legend Martin was champion trainer 15 times and secured 34 Festival victories as he revolutionised how horses are prepared for racing, being the first to implement scientific methods of keeping his charges fit and healthy.

The contest which bears his name is for jump jockeys who have not won more than 75 races under rules and is run over just further than 2m 4f, with nine hurdles to be cleared.

The most notable winner in the five renewals to date was 2011 scorer Sir Des Champs, who went on to win the following year's Jewson Novices' Chase and finished second in last season's Gold Cup, while Paul Nicholls and Harry Derham were successful last term with Salubrious.
